Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell said Wednesday that he has full movement in his lower body and is making progress in his upper body after suffering a neck injury in Sunday’s win over the Minnesota Vikings. “I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body,” Campbell said in a statement posted to social media by the Lions. “I’m incredibly encouraged by the progress I’ve made in such a short period of time.” “I know there’s still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic,” he added. “I’m taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better.” Campbell also thanked the Lions’ medical staff and the medical team at Henry Ford Hospital. The team said Monday that Campbell remained in the hospital and that early indications were positive, but it did not share further details on his status out of respect for him and his family. The All-Pro linebacker was placed on a backboard and carted off the field early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 19-15 win. Campbell was alert and breathing when he was taken to a hospital for evaluation. “We’re thinking about him,” Detroit coach Dan Campbell said. Jack Campbell was face down on the turf and was not moving after hitting tight end T.J. Hockenson for his third tackle of the game. He was evaluated by medical personnel before being strapped to a board and carefully lifted onto a cart to a round of applause. Detroit’s entire team and most of the coaching staff surrounded the cart before it transported Campbell off the field for further evaluation. The former Iowa star was drafted by the Lions with the No. 18 overall pick in 2023. Last season, Campbell was an All-Pro selection after becoming the first NFL player in seven years to have 150-plus tackles and at least five sacks and three forced fumbles. The Lions signed Campbell last May to a four-year contract extension that runs through the 2030 season. The Associated Press contributed to this report. Read More
